What’s on in Edinburgh
With its central position on St Andrew Square in the New Town Area, Cheval The Edinburgh Grand is only a short distance on foot, by tram or by taxi from the city’s events venues. See below for details of some of the city’s main venues and the travel time to reach them:
- Murrayfield Stadium: the home of Scotland’s rugby team, and seating more than 67,000 spectators this arena plays host to the annual Six Nations rugby tournament. It is also the setting for stadium-size music events. Access: 16 minutes by direct tram with a stop outside Cheval The Edinburgh Grand
- The Edinburgh Playhouse: the largest theatre in Edinburgh by far, with seats for 3,000. The place to catch the latest musicals and comedy acts. Access: 10 minutes on foot
- Edinburgh Castle: the city’s focal point, there are some smaller music gigs held here as well as the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo throughout August. Access: 15 minutes on foot or an 8-minute taxi
- 02 Academy: A live music venue with space for up to 3,000. Access: 30 minutes by bus or 20 minutes by train – all departing from Edinburgh Waverley which is a 3 minute walk from the front door
